Discussion Items

  • Members are encouraged to submit discussion items suitable for civil discussion in an open forum
  • Discussion items should be DMS business related

Groups and Committees

We have had a number of groups formed within the makerspace. Groups are much like committees in that they are groups of people that are gathered for a management or an advisory purpose. Group members are appointed rather than an open membership. There has been some movement in the definition of a group and how that may differ from a committee. I would like to discuss groups and how they relate to the rest of the space. I would also like to discuss what structure they should hold and if they should have transparency, oversight and/or minutes.

Removing or Limiting Committee Reports

Should we limit or remove committee reports from the member meetings? There are a lot of committees now. Perhaps, they could be just online?

Open Forum

  • Open Forum should be used for more general discussion items no necessarily DMS business related
  • Got a cool project? An idea spawned from the Discussion Items? Something that just occurred to you? Now is the time to mention it.
  • Try to keep the initial delivery in elevator pitch territory of 30-90 seconds
