Old business

New business

Vote on whether to continue using the current Dallas Makerspace logo, an updated version of the current logo, or the completely redesigned version proposed by Michael Paskar (Lisa Selk)

Problem: Michael has created a logo design that he would like to replace our current logo with; however, membership has not had an opportunity to discuss and vote on this proposed change. The design created by Michael is not just a simple "update" of our current logo; but, rather a complete redesign which in no way resembles our current logo. Our current logo has been heavily used in social media and various projects for several years. Our Members deserve the right to have some input into this decision.

Solution: As a member run organization, we should at least allow our members the opportunity to have input on what is a rather significant proposed change to our image (branding). If we meet quorum during the member meeting, I would like to encourage members to vote on whether we should continue using our current logo, use an updated but visually similar version of our current logo (which will be posted on our TALK forums prior to the meeting for review), or change the logo to the one proposed by Michael. If we do not meet quorum, members present should still be allowed to discuss it so the Board of Directors will have a better idea of what the membership would like to do.

Relevance to our tax exempt purpose: As defined on BusinessDirectory.com (http://www.businessdictionary.com/definition/corporate-logo.html), "Distinctive design, mark, or symbol that uniquely identifies a firm. A corporate logo is a powerful corporate identity tool and, as the symbol by which public recognizes a firm, is in some cases more valuable than the physical assets of the firm."
